Stonebridge Park to Watford Junction closed, including all intermediate stations: Wembley Central, North Wembley, South Kenton, Kenton, Harrow & Wealdstone, Headstone Lane, Hatch End, Carpenders Park, Bushey and Watford High Street. Part on the line re-opened 1984-06-04.

Central

Train hit a 200mm drilling bit at about 35mph. Driver ducked, but extensive damage to cab. The drilling bit was from a test boring for new road that had pierced the tunnel. Driver moved to other cab with guard in front and the train made it to Wanstead with passengers relaying messages between the guard and the driver.

Opened the single track loop, clockwise from Hatton Cross to Heathrow Central Terminals 1,2,3 (now Heathrow Terminals 1,2,3) passing the new Heathrow Terminal 4 station without stopping.

Opened the new station Heathrow Terminal 4 between Hatton Cross and Heathrow Central Terminals 1,2,3, which was renamed to Heathrow Terminals 1,2,3 at the same time.

The curve between Rickmansworth and Croxley was re-opened for early morning trains only.

Victoria

Burst 42in water main at Melton Street, Euston, 800.000 tons of water estimated to have entered Underground system, filling escalator machine rooms and pouring down escalators. Lake in Vistoria line tunnel, 1 metre deep, 5km long. Victoria line closed for two days, other lines affected was Northern Line (both City and Charing Cross branch).

Gloucester Road station closed for lift replacement. It was re-opened 1989-05-21.
